NTE Project Update February 2013
TEXpress Lanes 101

The North Tarrant Express (NTE) team recently participated in a North Texas Commission-hosted webinar on TEXpress lanes, the new managed lanes system that will be implemented in the North Texas region on the NTE, LBJ Express and DFW Connector projects.

Robert Hinkle, corporate affairs director for NTE Mobility Partners, co-presented with Andy Rittler, corporate affairs director for LBJ Infrastructure Group, which is developing the LBJ Express project. Hinkle and Rittler gave a 30-minute presentation updating participants on the status of their respective projects, the importance of public-private partnerships in funding major infrastructure projects, and the TEXpress managed lanes model, which gives drivers the freedom to choose whether they travel along tolled lanes.

O&M Team On Call 24/7

While the Operations and Maintenance team is focused primarily on maintaining the roadway to ensure the safety of drivers around the clock, they also provide a critical service to motorists in need. Recently, two members of our team were commended for their efforts to help a stranded motorist:

I was stuck on 820 the other week because I ran out of gas. I called several places and no one could help me. Out of nowhere, two of your techs showed up. Michael and Richard I believe were their names. They were amazing!! After they put gas in my vehicle, it still wouldn't start so they kept working. They sprayed some starter fluid in my vehicle. My truck wanted to start but it still wouldn't. So, they jacked my truck up and did something to it. I don't know what they did but my vehicle started! I believe they did more than what was necessary to help me. They could have just filled up the gas and left me, but they didn't. They were amazing and I believe they need a raise or reward or some kind of recognition. I had no one else to help me that day and they did. I am very grateful for what they did. Thank you! Carolyn C.

Business owners and tenants along the east segment of the NTE corridor (along Airport Freeway from North East Mall to Euless) are encouraged to attend our monthly outreach meeting at the HEB Chamber of Commerce, which takes place on the 4th Thursday of each month.

Project team members will provide an update on construction milestones and upcoming construction activity to help businesses better prepare for changes along the corridor.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, February 28, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the HEB Chamber, 2109 Martin Drive, in Bedford.
